NorthCap University - 6th National Moot Court Competition 2019

School of Law, The NorthCap University is going to organize the 6th National Moot Court Competition, 2019

Venue: The Northcap University, HUDA Sector 23A, Gurugram, Haryana

Concept Note:
This edition of the moot court at the NorthCap University, Gurugram deals with the sensitive issue of water preservation in a developing country. It sets out the case of a state where despite acute scarcity of water resources and effect on river water, rampant sand mining operations are being carried out violating the environmental norms.


The problem in hand deals with severe loss in terms of fresh water resources and ecology leading to ecological dis-balance while struggling to meet the day to day needs. The proposition deals with the conundrum pertaining to sustainable development with right to life where there is a dire need to protect resources for future generations and at the same time promoting development activities. It touches upon the aspect of right to work and livelihood of individuals vis-à-vis the preservation of resources for future generations. The moot court competition aims to tackle a pertinent question of how to balance the environmental concerns as well as the socio-economic needs of individuals.

Eligibility:
  • Law Schools / Colleges / Institutes / Universities recognized by the Bar Council of India, are eligible to participate in the Moot Court Competition. The participants should currently be pursuing their Bachelor's degree in law i.e., three year or five year Law Courses. Students who have completed their law courses are not eligible to participate in the competition.
  • Only one team can register from a particular Law School / College / Institution / University to participate in the Moot Court Competition.
  • Only those members designated as Speakers will be permitted to put forth oral arguments in the Competition.
